Monk – Happynismfactory

Humanarray Skateboards Monk

Monk Tatoo skate deck (center)

Sometimes the gallery and design studio can bring some cooky people in off the street. This week we were lucky and met “Monk”, a kick ass graphic designer and street artist from Belgium. Even on vacation he wanted to hook up with the SP art scene, so we helped Monk pull together some last minute art boards to display at HumanArray and Pastee. Monk will be using one of the skate decks as a journal on his hippy journey up the coast. We cant wait to see what it looks like when he returns home.   Check his site…    http://happynismfactory.blogspot.com/

Plugless Power CMF

Human Array recently collaborated with Plugless Power, an industry leader and premier designer of high-performance wireless charging systems, on their latest residential charging concept. We leveraged years of Industrial, Home, and Consumer product experience into the charging pad to help create a sleek unit that reinforces the futuristic proprietary technology while maintaining an approachable design language fitting for the Green movement and electric vehicle early adopters.

In this project CMF (color material Finish) was a key element in pulling the design and brand together. The contrasting and complimentary colors, finishes, textures, and materials all play a critical role in balancing a product’s visual appeal, visual volume, and fit in target environments. Take a look at some of the cool behind the scenes pics.

Cali Style Ghetto Gato

Last Friday Human Array and Laser Cutting Shop kicked off a bitchin new project. We took the first big step towards our own jewelry line and threw down some samples for the local caster.  Turns out this was the perfect excuse for the studio and Trevor Dunlop’s “Ghetto Gato” to take a field trip on a perfect So Cal day and soak up a little sun.

Stay tuned…We will keep you posted and show some pics of the process as we get the parts.

Randy Fullmer - Custom Wyn guitars - Laser Cutting Shop Wood Inlay

We normally don’t play favorites with our customers, but in some cases our admiration for an artists work is too overwhelming. Randy Fullmer is a good friend of ours that runs Wyn Guitars, an amazing custom bass shop packed to the gills with every exotic hardwood and tool you could imagine. His guitars showcase an attention to detail and awe inspiring richness in materials that can only be explained by a true love for his craft. Oh, and the sound is sublime…not that we are experts.

Artist, Craftsman, Music Junkie….. Check out this great writeup on Randy at NoTrebel.com

Avurt Pepper Ball gun Revisited

Avurt IM-5 Non-lethal Self Defense Peperball gun - design by Human Array

Avurt IM-5 Non-lethal Self Defense Peperball gun

This afternoon a sprightly young gentleman walked in unannounced with a small grey case with the letters IM-5 written in sharpie on the side.  This was a little bit of a surprise considering none of the original or preproduction units made it to the public after a few corporate changes. But there is was, a jammed hot pink Avurt IM-5.  Apparently the guy bought it on craigs list a while back and I was the only source online that had any reference tot he project. Long story short, the little launcher is back in my hands and ready to be showcased as example of brilliant engineering that was squashed by business.
